HOW
TO GET HERE
By
car, assuming renting at airport of entry, driving
times being estimations allowing for average traffic and
weather conditions:
from London Gatwick 2h 45m;
from London Heathrow 2h;
from Manchester 2h;
from Birmingham 50m;
from East Midlands 25m;
(There are scheduled services between East Midlands and
other airports in the British Isles and Europe, also charter
flights to most popular holiday destinations.)
By
train from London Gatwick changing at either Luton
or Bedford and Leicester. In 2006, however, it should
be possible to make the change at London St Pancras, the
main station for Leicester.
From London Heathrow, take either Underground to St Pancras,
or Heathrow Express - 15 minutes every 15 minutes - to
Paddington Station. If using Heathrow Express take the
Underground onward to St Pancras (12 minutes), or, if
much luggage, then taxi is necessary. Leicester can be
reached in just over an hour from St Pancras, where change
to a local train will bring you to Barrow.
From Manchester, change is necessary at Birmingham, and
possibly Leicester.
From Birmingham, change may be necessary at Leicester.

bus from London Gatwick and London Heathrow service
numbers 230 or 240, operated by Flightlink, to Leicester
St Margaret's Bus Station and East Midlands Airport respectively.
Departures approximately every 2 hours each service, travel
times - from Gatwick South Terminal 4h 5m/4h 15m and from
Heathrow Central
2h 45m/2h 50m to Leicester and East Midlands respectively.
Local buses run from Leicester to Barrow direct, but from
East Midlands a change is required in Loughborough.
From Manchester, a change is required in Birmingham to
reach Leicester, or Nottingham to reach Loughborough.
From Birmingham, Airbus to city centre (Digbeth Bus Station)
then bus to Leicester.
